DIT Courses

The Directorate of Industrial Training (DIT) is a Ugandan quality assurance directorate offering nationally, regionally and internationally recognized quality assurance services for the Business, Technical, Vocational Education and Training (BTVET). DIT produces high quality assurance mechanisms with emphasis on qualification standards and equivalent ratings with a high level of professionalism recognized nationally, regionally and internationally.

To promote quality assurance interventions in Business, Technical Vocational Education and Training for the public and private sector labor market needs to accelerate national development.

OBJECTIVES:

DIT pursues the following five strategic objectives (SOs) in order to achieve its mission.

  • Enhance the visibility of DIT through the scope and quality of its services.
  • Develop and maintain mutually beneficial partnerships.
  • Increase staff capacity for improved performance.
  • Widen the resource base for infrastructure developments and service provision.
  • Strengthen leadership and management systems.

FAMILY CONCEPTS CENTER is an assessment center in Iganga district training students in hands on training skills in Tailoring, Cooking, Hairdressing, Knitting, Computer Applications, Baking, Pastry, etc.

Computer Application

WHO IS AN ICT PRACTITIONER QUALIFICATION LEVEL 1? 

An  ICT  Practitioner  (Level  I):  Is  a  person  who  uses  basic  computer  applications  to accomplish work assignments

It is assumed that:

  • 1 day is equivalent to 8 hours of nominal learning and
  • 1 month is equivalent to 160hours of nominal learning

WHO IS A COOK QUALIFICATION LEVEL 1? 

A COOK LEVEL I: is a person who can prepare elementary continental dishes and  traditional dishes for example basic cold and hot beverages, basic salads, stocks,  sauces, soup, basic snacks, basic baked products, basic desserts and cuisines.

WHO IS A BAKER QUALIFICATION LEVEL 1?

A BAKER QUALIFICATION LEVEL 1; is a person who is able to bake elementary cakes and pastries like queen cakes, cookies, non-filled and filled pastries, yeast products and desserts, etc.

Hair Dressing

WHO IS HAIR DRESSER QUALIFICATION LEVEL 1?

A Hair Dresser Level 1 is a person who shampoos, conditions, blow dries, blunt cuts, plaits double rope twist and cornrow, and applies temporary colour to hair.

WHO IS A KNITTER QUALIFICATION LEVEL 1?

A KNITTER LEVEL 1; is a person who is able to hand knit, machine knit a flat and shaped product of a single color using stocking stitch, ribbed and garter techniques.

WHO IS A TAILOR QUALIFICATION LEVEL 1?

A Tailor Qualification Level is a person who drafts, makes and repairs simple garments and articles like ‘A’ line skirt, baby pant, bodice, elastic shorts under supervision.

Instructor

Dr. Ndifuna is a Medical Doctor, Gender specialist, Program Technical specialist and Career Trainer. He has over 20 years of experience in designing and managing social programs. Much of this experience has been with working for the United Nations in Health and Human rights programming. He is currently the Executive Director and Founder of Express Expertise Limited. Combining strategic planning, advocacy, policy, research and training skills, Dr. Ndifuna has worked with International agencies, Civil society, and government sectors to advocate on, promote and execute a range of interventions on public issues related to health, Human rights  Gender equality and women empowerment.
